How about three?... I love and miss these girls so much!

Crafty Edition: My Bride To Be Scrapbook

I have finally finished my Bride To Be scrapbook. My goal for myself is to finish all of our wedding albums before our one year anniversary. This includes my Bride To Be, Wedding, and Honeymoon albums. As if I don't have enough to do I have decided to add another album for our Rehearsal Dinner just because we had so much fun that night and we took so many pictures!
No one will be able to see our albums for awhile because we are so far away so I decided to share my Bride To Be album the best I could. Enjoy:

Mom's Visit

Joe and I officially had our first visitor here in New York. My mom flew out for a week and I was so excited for her to see just why I love our new home so much.

She had to take the red-eye here so that meant she would be landing around 6am. Luckily for us my mom insisted on hiring a car service so we didn't have to get up at 4am to pick her up from the airport. (Even though we would have been happy to do it) So last Wednesday I received a call at about 7:30am from Mom letting me know she was at our front door! I gave her an official tour of our place and she got settled in. Even though she has flown in on the red-eye we were not going to waste the day. We took the train to the city to meet my Auntie K for dinner in Soho and do a little site seeing.
Just outside of Grand Central Station
Mom enjoying people watching inside Grand Central Station.
The entire time Joe and I have lived here the weather has been perfect but the day mom landed it was nearly 100 degrees and not very pleasant. We decided to walk around Times Square after dinner despite the heat.
To our surprise there was a yoga event going on within Times Square. For about ten minutes we stood and watched hundreds of people doing yoga in the the dead center of the city streets. It sure was a site to see!

For the next couple of days the three of us relaxed and just enjoyed the town of Mount Kisco. On Friday we rented a car and headed off to see the town that my mom grew up in, New Cannon Connecticut.
Getting excited!
Before we went to see my mom's old neighborhood we just had to stop at Ted's. Ted's is a restaurant that was featured on Man vs. Food. The unique thing about Ted's is that they steam their burgers and they were amazing! We actually drove about an hour out of the way to stop here but it was worth it!

Next stop on the trip and the main part of the trip was to visit the neighborhood that mom grew up in and where my Grandfather built their home.
The first house we stopped at was my Great Grandparents house. My mom said the house used to be red but it still is so cute.
This pond was were my Grandfather used to ice skate and pull my Mom and Aunt on their sled. My Mom also believes that this is were she learned to swim but she is not 100% positive about that.
Unfortunately, the house that my Grandfather built has been replaced by a mansion but it was fun to take a tour of the old neighborhood.
From there I was determined to take my mother to the beach so we headed to Stamford Connecticut.
We enjoyed a nice day in Connecticut and did a ton of driving. (Or I should say Joe did a ton of driving) During Moms visit she told me many times she was excited to see a couple thunder and lighting storms. I guaranteed her that the storms here are nothing like the ones at home and you basically have to sit outside to hear the thunder. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut because on the drive home from Connecticut we drove threw the biggest storm I have ever seen. We received another huge storm later that week which was a little more fun because we were at home but I guess my mom got her wish.

Joe plays softball once a week with his fraternity so on this night Mom and I decided to cook dinner. It tuned out amazing!

Tuesday was the dreaded day that we had to drop mom off at airport. It was a long sad drive but we all know she will be back soon.
Mom saying goodbye to the city for now.

During Mom's visit we had the worst heat yet and two of the worst thunder and lighting storms. It just contributed to make this a very memorable trip. Mom loved it here so I know she will be back many MANY times!

Who will be our next visitor?

On The Shelf
Just some of my cookbook collection.

Crafty Edition: Graduation Cards

In one of my Photo-A-Day posts I mentioned making a little something for my cousins that are graduating this year. After going through all my scrapbooking and crafting supplies I realized that the only graduation stuff I had was the little bits and pieces that were left over from my graduation in 2004! That did not stop me, I asked my cousins for their school colors and went to work. These are the final products:
I am not completely impressed with myself but given the lack of supplies I had I think I did a decent job. I sent them off to the special graduates and they loved them so much! I even got this thank you picture from my cousin Aimee:
How cute is that?

Have You Missed Me?

Hello again! I know it has been a while but Joe and I had our first visitor! My mom came to visit for a week so things here have been very busy. I will be getting up to date with my Photo-A-Day's shortly as well as share with you some highlights of my moms stay.

Stay tuned....

Bathroom
I know you have all seen my bathroom before, when I took you on a digital tour of our apartment. I thought I would show you my favorite part of our bathroom. I mentioned on a previous post that my mom purchased this "spice rack" for me as a house warming but I can not get enough of it. I love how it looks up close.

Where You Shop
As most of you know Joe and I are still currently job hunting so the only place we are really shopping is A&P the local grocery store... not too exciting.

Something Cute

Is my cookie jar not the cutest thing you have ever seen? I am so addicted to baking that my cookie jar is overflowing. I either need to start eating what I bake or giving more away... any takers?

On Your Mind
Who is going to help me finish this bottle? While my mom was here visiting we enjoyed a couple glasses of Skinny Girl Sangria and boy was it yummy. Now that my mom is gone it feels rude to drink the remainder of the bottle with anyone but her. I guess she is just going to have to visit again very soon!

Movement
Or lack of movement... Yes, this is my truck and yes, they got all four tires! Luckily, we didn't have to pay for it. Trust me there will be no movement here until this is fixed!

From a High Angle
Wouldn't you like a castle on a hill? This is one of the houses in my mom's old neighborhood in Connecticut. This was my favorite house we saw so I had to point it out to Joe. ;)

Imperfect
This is now the view in my living room. I have once again started scrapbooking all of our wedding photos. I usually like to keep our living room as "perfect" as possible but I am going to have to settle with this until I finish our scrapbooks. I have successfully completed my "Bride To Be" scrapbook and now I am tackling our professional wedding photos. Hopefully I can finish soon!

Something We Don't Know About You:
I wish I never got my bellybutton pierced. At the time I was visiting New York with my Auntie "K" and thought it would be "so cool" to get my bellybutton pierced. My cool Aunt was excited for me and actually somewhat talked my mom into giving me permission. Don't get me wrong, I loved it when I had it and it is still a great memory but now it's not attractive at all and that will never change.
