Special Delivery

There is nothing better than arriving home after long day of work and seeing some presents on your front porch.

Keep in mind these were not actually presents but things I bought on eBay for dirt cheap. I am known for being a bargain hunter and sometimes eBay can be an obsession of mine. These packages were extra exciting because they were:

BOOKS!!!

After Joe finished the entire Maze Runner series last week I was dying to get a hold of it. I have already read Divergent and knew that it was a series I wanted to own.

Happy Reading!

Missing In Action

Good Morning Bloggers!

As you can see I have been skipping my blogging routine for the last week or so. My husband had Spring Break last week so we spent a ton of time cooking and relaxing. Please bare with me as I get my thoughts in order and return with some exciting and yes, some paleo posts.

Happy Tuesday :)

Stitch Fix Review March 2014

If you are not familiar with Stitch Fix you can read my first review HERE

Okay, my original "fix" was scheduled to be deliverer last week but was lost during shipment or on the way to FedEx.. (No one seems to know.) I contacted Stitch Fix and my new "fix" was scheduled for March 20th - got it early!

Before all this shipping drama I received an e-mail from Stitch Fix regarding my blog review. They reached out to me to thank me for being a customer and expressing my love for the company. They also advised me that I might want to look at my style profile to adjust some answers so they can understand my style a little more. (This was because they noticed I had not kept any tops yet.) I was amazed that they took the time to link my blog review to my account and send me an e-mail.

As I was going over my style profile I realized that I had answered all the questions about what I currently have in my closet NOT what I would like to try. So I made some major adjustments and waited patiently for my next fix.

This time around the prices where a little high and I was disappointed that at least one item was not in the $30-$40 range.

Luv AJ - Kristina Tri-Spike Charm Necklace $68.00
This necklace was not anything special to me and the $68 price tag just about gave me a heart-attack.
Returned

Kut From The Kloth - Ina Distressed Boyfriend Jean - $88.00
&
Collective Concepts - Cathleen Dot Print Lace Detailed Blouse - $68.00
I really love the fit of these jeans and the fact that they are so versatile. I returned the shirt because it is just a little busy for my taste and is a little expensive. For the jeans I am still undecided.

41Hawthorn - Natasha Front Pocket Sleeveless Blouse - $58.00
The shirt was cute and I loved the fabric and color but the fit left a lot to be desired. (Looks like I am trying to hide something.)
Returned

Pomelo - Fiona Embroidery Detail Striped Maxi Dress - $78.00
In my style profile I requested a ton of color and this maxi dress just doesn't have it. BUT this dress does offer a great lace detail at the top. (please excuse the black bra straps.) It is very cute and I do love it but I am still undecided.

What do you think I should keep?

Paleo Update

For this past week Joe and I have been really sticking to the Paleo lifestyle. I am shocked to be writing this but I have lost EIGHT pounds in the last seven days. My body has really taken to this new way of eating and is thriving. I was told I was borderline B12 deficient by my doctor and have been on daily vitamins ever sense in order to regulate my energy levels. On day three of Paleo I was off my daily vitamins and feeling better than ever!

Today for an afternoon snack I decided to cheat and enjoy my favorite snack:

I enjoyed my treat but I can say that I felt a major difference after eating this.

Joe and I are making an effort to follow the lifestyle but we also like the "80/20 Philosophy." (Follow Paleo 80% of the time and cut yourself some slack 20% of the time.)

I have requested 20+ Paleo recipe books from our library and are acquiring some great recipes. I will continue to share my new recipes and more updates.

101 Things in 1001 Days: #26 - Add 50 New Amazing Recipes to My Recipe Book

Sweet Potato Chips, Guacamole, & Coconut Chicken Strips

As you can see you will be getting three recipes for this one post. Joe and I are continuing to cook Paleo meals so last Sunday we choose the three recipes above to have for Sunday Night Dinner. The recipe for the sweet potato chips require you mix the potato slices in coconut oil that is mixed with TWO teaspoons of cayenne pepper. Needless to say when we make this recipe again we will be using no where near two teaspoons. Other than that everything turned out extremely good and was filling after just a couple of bites.

Missing Box = Missing Post

I had something exciting to post about today but…. sadly, my Stitch Fix March 2014 box has been lost. All day at work yesterday I was anxious to receive this month’s box because I had gotten some advice from Stitch Fix themselves about how to make my “fix’s” better. (More on that when I get the box.)  After not receiving my box yesterday with our morning FedEx delivery I grew curious and attempted to track my shipment. To my horror this is what I saw:

I know Stitch Fix has an amazing customer service team that will no doubt make this right, but for now I wait. I hope to be back soon with a more exciting Stitch Fix update!

Happy Hump Day!!!

101 Things in 1001 Days: #26 - Add 50 New Amazing Recipes to My Recipe Book

Protein Fruit Smoothie

This was my first attempt at making a Paleo breakfast. I tend not to eat a whole lot in the morning so I thought a smoothie would be perfect. I enjoyed this smoothie but was unable to finish it because it was so filling. I will say that coconut milk is something I am going to have to get used to.

A Stab at The Paleo Diet

The Paleo Diet is something my husband has been dying to try. I on the other hand are very anti diets, I don't like of being instructed to eat only certain items. I prefer to be conscious of what I eat and always strive to choose the healthier option. My husband persisted and asked if we could try it and if it's not for us then at least I have a few extra healthy recipes to add to my binders. We all know I am doing my best to fill up my recipe binders with great recipes so I could not argue there. Last week I logged onto our online library system (Our library system is AMAZING) and requested just about every book on Paleo that any library in Westchester County has to offer. The first book that was ready for me to pick up was Paleo Cookbook for Dummies. (How appropriate!) This was a great book to read first because it outlined the entire diet for me and resolved some grey areas. Now, I am not going to go into detail about the Paleo Diet and what it's all about because let's be honest, I am still researching and I am not an expert but here is the gist:

I will be sharing any Paleo recipes I conquer, great cookbooks I come across, and any possible health changes in result of the diet.

Have you and anyone you know tried the Paleo Diet?

101 Things in 1001 Days: #58 - Go to the Gym 100 Times

So I guess you can say I've gotten off to a slow start, but it's a start!;) Every year I boycott the gym for the entire month of January to avoid the craziness the new year brings. By February I can usually count on those resolution-gym-goers to have cleared out. So this year I was ready to jump back on the horse February 1st..... or 6th? With the CRAZY weather here I found it difficult to lug my gym bag three avenues to the gym in snowy icy conditions. Lets face it the two block walk to the train station was much more appealing. I plan on picking up the pace to at least two gym days per week in the month of March. Six trips down and ninety four to go!

2nd Visitor of 2014 Was...

...My Mommy!

Months before my mother was scheduled to arrive she told me over and over she wanted to see snow while visiting from the West Coast. The result was one of the craziest winters many people have seen in a long time.

What my mommy wants, my mommy gets!

We did many things during her week long visit: all you can eat sushi, margarita night, shopping in NYC, baking, board games, and puzzle conquering. Throughout the week mom got to experience some insane weather. We had snow, rain, frozen rain, and ice, ice, ice. The temperature during her visit varied from mid twenties to almost sixty degree. All in all she got her share of New York weather. During one of the few snow and rain free days we were able to have a girls day wondering around NYC.

As always the week went to fast and we can't wait to have her visit AGAIN soon!
