3rd Visitor of 2013

Two days after Valentines Day and three days after Mallory and Brian left we had another visitor fly into town. (What is with these crazy west coasters that want to visit the New York in the dead of Winter?)

My Mom came back for her 3rd round of the big city! This trip was not like the others because we had to spend most of the time indoors and not running around town like usual. We visited our favorite used bookstore in the city and then had a nice lunch.

While my mom was here I had to take a trip to my companies location in Queens and my mom decided to come with. (Please note I have NEVER driven anywhere in New York except right around where we live) It was an experience but we made it! The photo above was from the parking lot in Queens... amazing!

While my mom was here she just had to try out my new Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer.

We didn't do much this trip but she will be back soon and can't wait for the weather to warm up!

Valentines Day

This year we had a very full schedule and decided not to do much for Valentines Day. On the actual day I was scheduled to work overtime and get home around 7:00pm. My work day was extra stressful and I decided to leave work and get home by 6:00pm instead. I got home just as Joe was walking up. He then informed me that he had to grab the car and he would be back... oh and that I ruined everything by coming home early. (He was kidding of course) ;) He returned and told me I was not allowed in the kitchen for any reason. In the next few minutes he began to bring me the following:

The best most relaxing Valentines Day ever! I am both a very spoiled and very blessed wife.

2nd Visitors of 2013

Joe and I were excited to hear that two of our very good friends were going to visit us this February. Although February is not the most ideal month to visit the east coast we were excited to show them around. Unfortunately, their visit was cut short a day because of Blizzard Nemo but we made the most of their remaining time.

While Mallory and Brian were here Grand Central Station was celebrating it's 100th anniversary!

We got to see the 9-11 memorial

and experience Times Square at night

We were so excited to have them visit and cannot wait to see them again soon!

Nemo

I am sure most of you are aware that we recently had a blizzard. The morning of the blizzard Joe and I went to work as normal, Joe was able to get home before it got too bad but I ended up spending the night at my friends house close to work. Here are just some of the photos from the day after:

The storm was not as bad as they said it was going to be for our area but I sure had a good time freeing my car!

All in all Nemo just made things a little difficult but nothing crazy. So far I have experienced a hurricane and blizzard and all in my first year in NY. Lets hope I've seen the worst of it!

It's the Simple Things...

Sometimes there are things in your life that give you that feel good feeling. Living in California most of my life I was used to the usual way apartments looked, but when we moved to New York we were able to rent a little apartment that had a ton of character. Even though our apartment is on the smaller side we feel so at home here. One thing in this house that I love (and I am sure I've mentioned this before) is our bookshelf. I love that it is always changing as we get more books or put up holiday cards. Lets take a look at what it looked like when we moved in compared to now:

Whats your favorite thing in your house?

Hautelook.com

These days there are so many blogs and websites promising the best discounts and deals on everything from soap to shoes, but I think I have found a real winner. I signed up for hautelook.com months ago but never really found the time to explore the website. Last week at work my co-worker was talking about it and mentioned that there are actually extremely good deals. I wondered onto the website a couple days ago and was shocked to see some of the deals being offered. Here is an example:

If you know me you know I am a sucker for a good deal and rarely purchase items at full price, so this is my dream place to shop. This website operates a little differently than others, they hold events everyday for specific brands and those deals are only offered for about 48 hours. There is also a limit on how many of one item is available. They offer deals for women, men, kids, jewelry, and more.

I just wanted to share the wealth, enjoy!
