My 29th Birthday

I have to say that my 29th birthday was my best birthday I've had in a long time.
Moving across the country and making all new friends have made past birthdays in New York and little trying. It’s hard to make good friends with people you have only known for a number of months. More often than not when you really get to know the person you realize that a friendship is probably not a good idea. When Joe and I moved here I was introduced to a couple of his friend’s wives/girlfriends. Some relationships stuck and some didn't.

Here's to the relationships that stuck and to the last year in my twenties!!!

I am Officially in the Last Year of my Twenties!

With every birthday I celebrate on the east coast I can't help but feel just a tad melancholy. Each year I have woken up on my birthday with my phone buzzing with good wishes for my birthday and the upcoming year. Living in a different time zone has delayed these messages so I no longer wake up in the same fashion. This morning I woke up at 3:30am pacific standard time with a phone sleeping just as soundly as my friends and family in California. It's just yet another reminder how far we really live from our loved ones. It can be hard at times but I know we are where we are meant to be.

Fast forward a couple of hours and the phone is wide awake and buzzing! So to all my California babies out there:

I miss you and love you like crazy!

It's My Birthday...

Well it's official, I'm 28 now!
I am not sure how I feel about being another year older but I have to say I am extremely happy with where I am in life at 28 years old. Joe and I seem to be thriving in New York and life just seems to be getting better and better. I can't tell you how difficult or stressful it was creating a new life here on the east coast but for the first time I can say that most things have returned to normal. There will always be challenges you face in life but the challenges we are experiencing now are not in result of our move or past in California. This is the third summer I will spend in New York and it seems normal. I spent my first Mother's Day and Parent's Birthdays away for the FIRST time this month and that was a challenge in itself but I am lucky enough to have them both visit this spring/summer.

For my birthday this year I wanted to skip the whole thing but after receiving a large kick in the rear by my husband and co-workers I decided on a BBQ. We had the BBQ this past weekend and spent the day celebrating and hanging out with our closest friends. Last year my birthday was a complete and utter disaster and as a result I was hesitant to try to set anything up. I am very thankful I allowed my husband and co-workers to talk me into it.

Cheers to another year!

My Husband is 30!

Today is the day that my Husband begins life in his 30's! Although I am not far behind it's kind of hard to believe. This past week every time I checked the mail there was something new for the 30 year old. He is very grateful for all the love that was sent his way this past week. One day last week I arrived home after work excited to see a package on our doorstep. The package was from my mother and because she regularly sends care packages I was eager to rip into it. A moment later I noticed that the package was addressed ONLY to Joe, so I had to hand it over. (darn!) He opened his package and found the following:
I couldn't help but laugh because I had told my mother during one of her visits how much Joe liked Fluff but just the thought of having it in my cupboard made me ill. My mom also mentioned to Joe and he does not have to share any of his pistachios with me. (How rude!) =D Today on Joe's official Birthday he has work and then has to take a final at school. Not really a fun filled Birthday but it's what being an adult is all about! If you are wondering I still have not had one of Joe's pistachios!!

My 26th Birthday

My 26th Birthday was thrown in during our last weekend home. It was great to be able to celebrate my birthday at home but it was stressful to find the time. Joe was nice enough to plan a full day of birthday fun and put the packing off until the next day.

We started off attending a street fair in downtown Campbell called Boogie on the Bayou. It was a fun couple of hours but it quickly became to crowded for my taste.
Once we left Campbell we met up at Santana Row for a couple drinks to wait for my brother to get off work.
And finally once my brother was off work the ones that had enough energy met at a local dive bar to celebrate the final hours of my birthday.
My 26th Birthday was a long day filled with amazing people. I am so happy I was able to celebrate my 26th in my home town with the people I adore. We will see how different my 27th Birthday will be!

Everyone that really knows me knows I must always plan my outfit for special events. My 26th Birthday will be no different! With the weather being so amazing and because I have planned to spend my birthday outdoors this is what I have come up with:

Maxi Dress: American Eagle
Flats: Steven Madden
Sunglasses: Michael Kors

Bring on the birthday fun!

Joe's 28th Birthday

For Joe's 28th Birthday we gathered some of our closest friends and attended a show at The Improv in downtown San Jose. The show was good and the company was awesome. After the show we headed to a bar in downtown Willow Glen to have some drinks and celebrate Joe's birthday.  A great way to bring in Joe's 28th year!
