We All Scream For Ice Cream

Back in the kitchen! Today I felt the need to cook or make something and without my baking supplies I had to use my imagination. I had made a promise to myself before we moved that I was going to make an effort to use all our kitchen gadgets we received for our wedding. So today I opened the cupboard and what did I see? Our Cuisinart ice cream maker was screaming to be used. I pulled out the manual (Yes I keep all our manuals for everything we own) hoping it would include some easy recipes. I was in luck, so I went to work. Surprisingly the process was really simple and fun.
Mix together the dry ingredients...
Add the cream and whole milk...
Pour the mixture into the handy dandy ice cream maker, push on and watch it spin...
Wait twenty minutes and TA DAA!
I asked Joe to help me transfer the ice cream to a bowl and he stole a taste before I could say a word. His eyes widened and I knew what that meant. I took a quick spoonful and instantly I could taste not only homemade chocolate ice cream but it tasted exactly like a Wendy's Frosty! I am very excited to use this more often and experiment with different flavors.

Photo-A-Day June 4th

Close-up:
Now I know that yesterday I used one of my meals as my photo of the day but I had not choice but to do it again today. This is the close up of my dinner and boy was it amazing. As my last post shared Joe and I had gone grocery shopping yesterday and completed our first big shop sense we arrived here in New York. With this said Joe was a little taken back when I wanted to return to the store today to "pick up a few things." I decided I wanted to cook our first homemade meal and I wanted that to be chicken enchiladas. After we left the store I quickly went to work and with a little help from Joe (I just prefer not to prepare the chicken because he is such a pro) dinner was served. As I always do I was hoping my meal would be eatable but I had no idea how amazing this recipe would be. I just had to pat myself on the back after this one!
Yum!

Photo-A-Day June 3rd

On your plate:
Nothing too exciting here just a plain salad. This was only because Joe and I had yet to have our first BIG grocery shopping trip. This turned out to be much more fun then I expected. Joe and I studied the ads and clip coupons (electronically anyway) before we set out for the store. Now remember that we had nothing in the house and we not only had to get food but all the basic items you need in a household. Upon checkout the cashier said "Thanks for shopping you saved $63." Joe and I are really impressed with ourselves so I had to share. :) Goodnight!

Finally - Today Has Come!

Our things have arrived!!!
Now I have never spoken with anyone who has made a cross country move but hiring a moving company was not a pleasant experience. We went through all kinds of issues with Bekins along the way. We were told our things would ship out on Wednesday when in reality they shipped out on Saturday. This caused us to wait at least five extra days. My first moment of panic while unpacking was when I could not locate half of our very amazing cookware that we received for our wedding. My heart rose back into my chest when Joe yelled from the other room that he found them. I thought that would be the end of it but I was wrong. Things were broken (4 plates, 3 glasses, a picture frame, etc.) and to top if off we realized about three hours after starting to unpack they still had at least two of our boxes on the truck. (and of course it had to be my baking stuff) All in all we are very happy to have (almost) all of our stuff here and it was fun to unpack wedding gifts we have forgotten all about!
As you can see some of the boxes have been just a little abused.
We are enjoying the unpacking process a lot and we have only about five boxes to go before we are settled and able to start decorating. Here are some of the surprises we encountered along the way:
Found this inside one of the boxes - Opps! Sorry mom!
This was written on the outside of a box - So glad I was able to see you before I left Laura!

I will post more pictures once we finish moving in and decorate. This apartment feels so much like home I can't explain!

Photo-A-Day June 2nd

Empty:
This picture pretty much sums up our life up right now. We are still (yes, I repeat still) waiting for our things to arrive! We are being told tomorrow is the day so please please please keep you fingers crossed. Our house is just like the picture above, empty and it seems lonely without all of our belongings. Joe and I are anxious to get settled in and really begin our life here. We plan on doing a lot of entertaining because we now have a place that suits it... but of course we can not do this until that magical truck arrives.

Photo-A-Day June 1st

Morning:
This is what my morning consisted of... I know I know I am spoiled! It's nice to be able to lay in bed and read on a Friday morning but I am starting to get a little restless. Once our things get here Joe and I both plan on applying for every job in site. Happy Friday!
